Description
Sparkling wine made from a special cuvée of Chardonnay and Pinot Noir grapes vinified off the skins, which then undergoes a second fermentation in the bottle brought on by the addition of a measured dosage of fermenting agents, the so-called liqueur de tirage.
Following a period of maturing and ageing on the yeasts lasting an average of 36/40 months, the operations of remuage and dégorgement are performed , with the addition of the liqueur d’expedition, the special sugar-based liquid which determines its final taste.

Description
This is Piedmont’s great white varietal, made from a very rare vine - Arneis – which is grown to the
left of the River Tanaro. Here the sandy soil of the hills of the Roero give it intense, rich aromas, while the limestone and clay provide structure and substance.
MOSAICO DI SOLE is widely appreciated for its elegance, which starts out in its straw yellow colour, continues through a nose of flowers and fresh fruit, and is brought to a consummate conclusion in the mouth, round and appealing, with a delicately bitterish aftertaste that cleans the palate in an invitation to have another taste.

Description
Left briefly to macerate on the skins, a blend of red Barbera and Nebbiolo grapes produces a juice with a lovely light pink colour tending to cherry-red.
On the mouth it is well-balanced and savoury, showing great freshness accompanied by elegant tannins that contribute to good length of flavour.

Description
This is one of the very few Italian D.O.C.G. status wines with a growing area limited to just one village , an island entirely surrounded by another dolcetto appellation,Dolcetto d’Alba D.O.C. DIANO D’ALBA is named after this village, which is perched on a small tongue of land overlooking the town of Alba.
Though the wine is similar to its neighbour, it shows nuances and particular characteristics which make it unmistakeable. In this village the prime site vineyards are classified as “Söri”, an expression in the local Piedmontese dialect meaning ‘sunny’; our wine is quite unique, being a blend made from grapes grown on several Söri.

Description
Barbera is another great Piedmontese red. Its origins are very old, and it is one of the most widespread varieties in Piedmont.
The Barbera grown around the town of Asti stands out in particular for it grandeur. A powerful wine, with an exquisite bouquet and a taste matching strength with finesse, it is made by an attentive vinification of selected Barbera grapes grown on prime sites in the villages of Agliano Terme, Vaglio Serra, Vinchio,Nizza and Mombercelli.

Nebbiolo d’Alba D.O.C.

Description
Our Nebbiolo is an assemblage of nebbiolo grapes grown in the heart of the classic area of wine
production. These silica-rich soils yield wines impressive both for their elegance and aromas.
Winemaking practices are traditional in style. The must macerates on the skins for some 15 days
at 28-30°C, followed by the alcoholic fermentation.
The wine undergoes malolactic fermentation and ageing in large casks of oak for 12 months. Then
it spends some other months in the bottle before the powerful structure and elegant aromas reach
an optimal equilibrium.

Description
“KING OF WINES AND WINE OF KINGS”
The grapes come from one of the historic villages for the production of this highly-prized wine, Castiglione Falletto, where the richest Barolos with the most body and the greatest ageing potential are grown. Barolo is made from Nebbiolo grapes, and on the highly calcareous soil to be found here this miserly vine produces just a small number of very precious, powerful bunches, an attentive vinification, followed by lengthy maturing in French oak casks in keeping with time-honoured tradition, put the finishing touches to its characteristics and special qualities.

Description
“L’IMPERATORE” (the Emperor) is named after a family ancestor who owned Francesco Scanavino’s current premises. An outstanding, big red wine crafted from a strict selection of overripe Barbaresco Nebbiolo, Cabernet Sauvignon and Barbera d’Alba grapes grown on vineyards located in the communes of Treiso and Barbaresco. Attentively vinified, with a lengthy maceration on the skins, this is the only wine in our selection which is aged in new small barrels, and it shows great structure and considerable alcohol.

This is the perfect party wine, and an ideal match for every dessert. It’s a sweet, aromatic, delicate and fruity wine, slightly spritzy and with limited alcohol.
The fragrance of the varietal aroma fills the wine with an intense nose and a lively taste. Our Moscato d’Asti is made from selected grapes grown on sun-blessed hills surrounding the small town of Canelli.

Barolo Chinato
Digestive - Aromatized Wine

Description
FRANCESCO SCANAVINO‘s Barolo Chinato is made from D.O.C.G. Barolo wine aromatized with cinchona bark, rhubarb rhizome, and gentian roots, following an old recipe dating back to the late 1800s.
The active ingredients are extracted by means of maceration at room temperature of 21 natural aromatizing spices, including precious cardamom seeds. Traditionally in Piedmont this special wine was used as a remedy for many minor ailments, and it used to be served hot as an invigorating mulled wine. Today the reputation of Barolo has elevated it to being considered one of the finest meditation wines, on a par with Port, Marsala and liqueurlike raisin wines.

Made by the careful steam distillation in pot stills of very fresh, selected moscato grape marc. Maturing in oak barrels then follows for 2 years to provide the amber colouring and aromas that make this product a real gem.
An intense, engaging nose, very aromatic and ethereal, shows almondy overtones and clearly conjures up the variety of grape it is made from.

Description
The distillation process used to make this grappa is the same; the differences lie in the fact that the pomace is obtained from Barbera grapes, and that there is no ageing involved.
White and dry, it has a seductive nose that is fin yet shows considerable body, and a soft, very well-balanced flavour that lingers on the mouth.
